Rotary Club of Goolwa making a difference in Papua New Guinea
The Rotary Club of Goolwa is making a difference to communities in Papua New Guinea by donating wheel chairs for those in need, especially children who are suffereing from polio.
The wheelchairs provided have been sponsored by the Wheelchair Foundation and various Rotary Clubs in Australia including the Rotary Club of Goolwa in conjunction with Rotary Club of Boroko.
The current shipment consists of 1 x 40 foot container consisting of 110 wheel chairs and spares at a retail value of more than $50,000.
This is the fourth shipment over the past 10 years. The first shipment of similar donation of 2 x 40 Foot Containers containing more than 220 chairs was provided in 2009.
âThe wheel chairs not only brings mobility, but independence, great joy and happiness to various patients whose mobility is affected due to various causes accidents, ailments for years,â Rotary spokesperson said.
